Maybe because she doesn't remember anything, so she just assumes she has short term memory loss. Also, remembering you have short term memory loss is stored in long term memory.

Because its a Long Term condition. Short Term Memory loss is when you forget things you have just learned, such as someones name. So if Dory is aware that she has memory loss, she will have consigned the fact to her Long Term Memory through gradually being told over time that she has it-the fact that she forgets so often would have helped with this! This is why people with Short Term Memory loss may accidently get a taxi to their old house when they have just moved address-the old address is consigned to Long Term Memory, the new address is not.

First of all, it's a movie. Second of all, that may be something that has been finally stored in her long-term memory. Like on Fifty first Dates when the girl can remember Sandler's face, but not much else. Our minds can do wonderous things. She may have realized that she had short-term loss when it wasn't so bad, and that gave her time to store the fact in her long term before her short-term got to be so bad.

'Tis said that it's normal the older we all get. Our long term memory is so good, that it allows us to think back to our younger days, thus creating a lot of happy memories. There's nothing wrong with that. As for the short term memory loss, it's not really lost, it's just hiding sometimes. It'll make an appearance sooner or later.

It's a cartoon.
I have real short-term memory loss. It's called anterograde amnesia, and it's not funny. I do forget I have it, all the time. I'm surrounded by great people who always remind me, though, so I'm okay. I am getting better. I'm taking some great pills that help my seizures. But why I am telling you that - what was your question?

Short term memory loss is something that happens to you from an accident. So she was told that a lot and she remembers. For people with short term memory loss, if they are told something that impacted them a lot, it sometimes does stay with them. Long term memory loss is when you forget everything, who your are and such.

cause she got short term memory she's not dumb, apparently she's know what short term memory is, and she realizes that she doesn't always remember, because remember in the movie she was able to remember some stuff like the address in the face mask..or something

Its because she is only acting and in real life she is a Professor of Physcology. Plus, if she has seen the film as many times as my daughter, she remembers every single word!
