You're SIXTEEN for crying out loud! Stop being such a frigging pansy and just get the test done!
And yeah...the nurse will probably MAKE it hurt if you scream in her ear, and if you jerk your arm away, it'll probably tear the skin and maybe the vein. So hold real still, don't make a sound and cry SILENTLY.

I'm the same way. I'm 20. It's embarrassing, but sometimes blood tests have to be done. I also get extremely sick afterwards and puke and pass out. I've found that if they have you lie down (most blood test places have dentist chairs where you can lie down) and close your eyes and have someone talk to you about normal every day stuff while it goes on that it helps. Inform the person taking your blood before hand that you are terrified of needles. This way they know to expect you to jerk your arm away, etc that way they are extremely careful and don't hurt you. They may also have some techniques that help. Try really hard not to scream because it may scare little kids that are in the waiting room, if you focus on not screaming and not flinching, it makes it a bit easier because you can focus on something other than the needle. Good luck!

Hey Molly, it's time to suck it up and just do it. Just look away and relax your arm. If you have to, curl your toes or use your other hand to grip the chair handle. Show your mum that you're a big girl now and can handle it. Don't worry about the nurse...I'm sure she's dealt with all kinds of scaredy cats, some even older than you. No one really likes needles, and if they say they do, I'd recommend a good phsych! You've got to learn how to take things that are necessary. What if you have to have an IV put into your arm when you're having a child? Just relax. You can do it. <*)))><

It all depends on your nurse. She can be the happiest little thing out there or he can be the strongest thing you've ever seen so you won't be able to pull your arm away. That's just on the bright side.
How about this: grow up and deal with getting blood tests done. If I were you I'd be the most sterile person in the world so you could avoid such situations.

I hate needles too, just don't watch what the nurse is doing, think of something else, read a poster on the wall. Just don't pay attention to what they're doing, it will make it a lot more bearable. And don't tense up or pull away your arm.

You'd be lucky if the nurse wouldn't haul off and smack you off the chair. You twitching like that just screws up the concentration of the nurse who's trying to take your blood, which in turn could result in multiple sticks, bruising, blown veins, etc. You making excessive noise has the same effect. I hope you never have children... needles are part of pregnancy.

The more you jerk your arm or pull it away the worse it will be because the nurse wont be able to get it right. Close your eyes and relax. Try not to look at the blood too much

it will be unpleasant as all hell for the nurse but you are allowed to scream and cry. try not to move your arm, you don't want your arm jerking when the nurse is trying to put a needle in it and if it does, they will have to hold you down which will make matters worse. just try and focus on something else.

Try to relax, breathe, look away, and bite on your lip. Whatever you do, DON'T pull your arm away. That's the worst thing you could do. If you scream or cry, the nurse won't be mad, I'm sure.

relax...i'm just as scared of needles as you. all you have to do is drink lots of water before you go (it will help the needle slide into your vein easier). just tell them that you are scared of needles.....hopefully they will understand. i had a REALLY bad experience with needles. after it's over.....if you feel sick...lightheaded...dizzy...or anything ask them if they have some orange juice....so that you can boost your sugar level back up. i HOPE this helps. GOOD LUCK!

Watch out for the ones who "oops, I missed the vein. let me try again". They like to do that when they need a little laugh. They go back and talk about it. "Man I had a little screamer! She cried and cried! Hahahahahahaha... took me 3 times to find the vein, and you know what I mean about that!"

yeah the nurse will probably hate you but just dont move...
if you pull your arm away the needle can tear your vein or break off.

I would be very angry if you pulled your arm away!! Sorry but bite your lip or something. If you move, you have to get stuck again!!!

It is ok.
But it is stupid to be afraid of needles.
One day will come and you will have to have a surgerie,
One day you'll have a child and they will use needles at birth
Needles are everywhere try to get used to it.

I have the same problem, I would first try to tough it out
if it doesn't work try to distract yourself. Thats what I do. :)
