Enough with the redundant BS. This person is obviously a smoker AND implies they already understand cigarettes have an impact on your physical health. Dancing around the web to find just a few results, I'll share some statistics (if you want to find a "healthier" cigarette, check the list at my source for low tar and CO measurements; if you want to wean off cigarettes, scan through the nicotine column)

Marlboro Light, King Size, Hard Pack: 10mg Tar, 0.8mg Nicotine, 11mg CO

Marlboro, King Size, Hard Pack: 16mg Tar, 1.1mg Nicotine, 14mg CO

and one more light for fun-

Newport Lights, King Size, Hard Pack: 9mg Tar, 0.7mg Nicotine, 12mg CO

As a more direct response: Marlboro Lights are "better" for you than full-flavored Marlboros. They have comparable figures to other light cigarettes, but again - check my source for an outdated FTC report on 1206 brands in 1994,

Yes just ask for Marlboro Lights, the 100's are the longer ones. The normal size ones are considered kings. The only difference between would be either hard or soft pack. The hard packs (also known as boxes) has the flip top on the box and the soft pack has no support for your purse/pocket. There is no cost difference between the two, I would suggest the box for the support. Also if you don't smoke often keep them in the freezer to keep them fresh between outings. Hopefully this helps. Also Mavericks are similar in taste, but cheaper if cost becomes an issue.

It looks as though ALL cigarettes are bad for you.

This is quite true. To prove it to yourself, light a cigarette, place it in your mouth and inhale. Then using a clean handkerchief, close your lips until the gap is quite small, hold the handerchief close up against your lips, and breathe out the smoke through your handkerchief. Now look at the handkerchief.

This is what a piece of cotton has filtered out of just 1 inhalation. Your lungs are a much better filter than this, so imagine what they must filter out, EVERY TIME YOU INHALE.

Not necessarily. Cigarette companies advertise and market the "Lights" versions of their cigarettes as a "healthier" alternative to standard cigarettes. The literal difference is that Reds have 8mg of tar, and .6mg of nicotine, as opposed to lights which have 6mg of tar, and .4mg of nicotine.

In theory it would be considered healthier, but what often happens is that people are used to the .6mg of nicotine, and end up smoking 2 "lights" to equal their 1 Red. Then your body is becoming accustomed to .8mg of nicotine to curb your cravings, and now you are smoking twice as much because you thought "lights" were better. The healthiest way to smoke nicotine is to invest in an electronic cigarette because there is no tar and the filter gets changed with every puff (one puff is all you need, trust me)!

BUT REALLY, any form of smoking is unhealthy, so if you're really concerned, try to quit!!

No, they are definitely not healthier! This is a marketing trick and the word 'light' is supposed to be indicative of flavour, they say. No cigarette is good for you. Every cigarette is a tiny roll of death-waiting-to-happen.

They make you stink, they make your teeth yellow and then they kill you. Not really worth it, is it? Quit now and stop giving those corporate bastards any more of your hard-earned money. There is a special place in hell reserved for the tobacco company execs.

In fact all "light" products including sodas and cigarettes contain only more bad substances for your body in order to get from Full Flavour(let's say that's more raw) to light.

On the other hand, i bet you already know cigarettes are bad for your health

You are going to get lots of answers telling you how bad smoking is etc. etc. this isn't one of them. the 'light' bit is to do mostly with the flavor. The tar rating is the bit that is 'sort of' how bad for you they are.

In reality, no cigs are good for you and over time they are all as bad as each other.

It's just the taste that make the ciggerette "light" or "ultra light". Nothing else. The "least bad" ciggerettes are American Spirits. It's just tobacco, nothing else in the ciggerette.

They are actually exactly the same. Do some research on the internet, you'll find you might as well be smoking the ones you really like.

they kill you more slowly -- you can decide if you think that's "better" or not.
