My mom gave me this because I have GERD but when she gave it to me, she told me to take it ONCE a week but when i googled it, i found the Kirkland brand from costco called "Omeprazole 20 mg Delayed Release Tablets" .. and the direction says:

Directions:
Adults 18 years of age and older:

This product is to be used once a day (every 24 hours), every day for 14 days
It may take 1 to 4 days for full effect, although some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours
14-Day Course of Treatment

Swallow 1 tablet with a glass of water before eating in the morning
Take every day for 14 days
Do not take more than 1 tablet a day
Do not chew or crush the tablets
Do not crush tablets in food
Do not use for more than 14 days unless directed by your doctor
Repeated 14-Day Courses (if needed)

You may repeat a 14-day course every 4 months
Do not take for more than 14 days or more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor

... so what do I do? Do i listen to my mom's advice ( her english isn't very good so im afraid she mightve misheard the pharmacy tech) Also, if i were to take one capsule and the symptoms go away.. can I stop and take it away whenever it comes back?

The usual dose is indeed 1 capsule once a day. In severe cases of reflux disease, a doctor may prescribe either a 40mg tablet, or 1 20mg tablet twice a day.

It has been proven that a full 14 day course of omeprazole can treat reflux for up to several months. Therefore it's better to take the full 14 day course, rather than taking 1 now and then when you have symptoms.

If you regularly get reflux or heartburn, it is a good idea to see your doctor. Prolonged reflux can damage the esophagus, cause scarring, narrowing of the esophagus due to scarring (making it harder to swallow food), and esophageal cancer (known as a Barrett's esophagus).

Delayed Release, Sounds Contrary to it's Mechanism. Looks Like he/she Suspects Aspiration of Acid Secondary to GERD.
