I don't know how much of this is factual, but:

Stay away from cold foods and dairy products. And ice cream is both.

After I had my tonsils out the doctor talled me to eat plenty of icecreme,so I guess it should be true for a normal sore throat as well.

If it is soothing i don't see a problem, if it develops in to a chest problem you might have to suffer without the icecream until better if in doubt consult a Doctor.

Try vanilla ice cream. If it does not hurt or help you may want to see a doctor.
