Question:
Can drinking a lot of water help you lose weight?

We have an extra credit assignment we can do where we drink the recommended amount of water, and write down our reactions. I was wondering if when I do this I could lose weight? I just thought this could be a good way to lose weight. (which I need to lose)

It certainly can't hurt you unless you drink am amazing amount, & than it will make you drunk in a bad way.

It will help you flush toxins...when you pee clear, you are drinking enough water. Most human adults are walking around dehydrated most of their life.

In the recomended amout, or a little more, it will help you. You may lose weight, & going on a diet now would be the time to do it!

Good luck!

Yes, drinking water does help you lose weight and maintain weight after loss. Instead of drinking a soda pop, even diet, drink a glass of water instead. Coffee is not good either when trying to loose weight...it causes belly fat and can dehydrate you, due to the caffeine contents. When truly trying to loose weight healthy (cut out all sugars), due drink lots of water (at least 4-8oz glasses a day), eat a well balanced meal (you can eat carbs, just in moderation, balance it off with greens) three times a day (small portions) and a healthy snack in-between meal for energy and fullness kept during the day. Walk every day, start out small and add more each week. You will see a difference after 6 week and be pleased with yourself and start a new way of healthy living with out the fad diets.

water does help you loose those unwanted pounds, though not all of them. water also helps by flushing out toxins in your body. recommended is 8-8oz glasses per day with an additional 8 oz per 10lbs of excess body weight. water also can help some people keep that "full" feeling longer thus reducing the amount they eat, however you still need to eat to keep the body functioning at it's best. Quickest way to lose weight is no soda, or diet soda ( watch it though, saccharine and other sweeteners can cause headaches, nausea, upset stomach etc), avoid what is termed "junk" foods (chips, candy, quick fix foods) and you MUST, this is not an option, increase your activity level.

Yes, this is soo true. If you feel hungry for junk food or a snack, have water instead. If you're craving sugary foods and such, it will most likely mean youre dehydrated, so get hydrated and have some water! Just so you know, you should be having 6-8 glasses of water each day, its so healthy for you.

Yes you can loose weight but you have to drink fairly large quantities. My brother was drinking 3 gallons or more a day and ended up loosing weight.

Water is very healthy for you. not only nurishes your cells, but detoxifies them also. Won't do any good tho unless your eating habits are healthy. But too much water can saturate the cells and you can put on what's known as 'water weight'.

Yes, but only because it makes you full so that you won't eat too much of other foods that have too many calories.

The MOST important thing about weight loss is the number of calories you eat. That is by far the most important thing.

Most people mistake dehydration for hunger.

i think it's all been said here already. but just to reiterate. drinking water can help facilitate weight loss tremendously. drinking 8-12 cups of pure water per day with help quell your hunger pains, flush out toxins, aid in the digestion process and even lead to a healthier clearer complexion! BONUS!

If you are replacing water for food, yes. Water is so good for your body. Skin, Hair, etc.

Within reason. You can drown yourself.

Water makes you feel full so you don't eat very much.

Simple, cheap, it works.

yes because there's no calories in water. if you were taking your recommended fluid from soda....thats a LOT of calories. even if you took the recommended about of fluid from gatorade in a day.....thats about half of the recommended sugar intake for the day--and thats just from fluid!!
