Should I be rotating my new ear lobe piercings?

I got my second holes done in my earlobes 3 days ago. I had it pierced with a gun (not my best idea) and now it is red and swolen. The after care information sheet says to rotate them 3 times a day but when I do it hurts and starts to bleed a little. I know when I had my cartilage done they said not to rotate them, so I wonder if I should be doing it with these? I was also wondering if I could use the same aftercare products on my lobe piercings as my cartilage piercings?

I'd use the alcohol cleaner they gave you before rotating. Clean it very well, and then rotate. Not rotating your earrings can cause the hole to grow in and it can get infected. It's normal for there to be pain while rotating earrings. Make sure to clean your ears completely before and after rotating, and in the morning and night, addition to before and after rotating.

If the pain continues, consult a doctor as soon as possible. Infections can get very serious and cause a lot of damage.

Okay, if you have bar soap like Dial, that will work best. You need to get a Q-tip or a cotton ball wet and get some of the soap on there then clean all around the earring. Don't use ear cleaner from Claire's that stuff will actually prevent you ears from healing as quickly. If you want to make a salt water solution take: 1 cup warm (not hot!) water 1 tiny little pinch of salt Mix those two together, apply to a Q-tip or cotton ball and apply around the affected area. If you got your ears pierced with a piercing gun then you should rotate them 2-3 times a day to let them get a little air, plus (this is kinda gross) but it gets the dead skin out. If you got your ears pierced with a needle you only need to rotate them every other day. A little bleeding or even puss is normal, if if gets really bad where you whole ear gets swollen and red go to a doctor.

If you had a pro do it, you most likely have an earcare kit, which is the ointment you put on it. If you don't, put rubbing alcohol, and peroxide on it. It works just as well.

I just recently got my ears pierced, and yours sound infected. As bad as it will hurt, rotate them ALOT. Even if you don't have ointment on them. You'll soon get into the habit of rotating them, and the swelling will soon go down more. Just remember, the first month they are sensitive, and the healing is most important.

I hope I helped!

actually, you shouldn't use alcohol or peroxide to clean them, because it kills the new cells trying to get used to the hole, and prevents it from healing. use the stuff they gave you before and clean them before and after you twist them. if you don't cleam them first, all that crust will get inside of the hole, and cause a keyloid which is scar tissue that looks like a wart. they're supposed to swell and hurt, just give it some time, you'll be fine. :)
